Rethink Education is thrilled to announce the promotions of Bridget Duru and Monique Malcolm-Hay from Senior Associates to Vice Presidents in recognition of their demonstrated leadership and invaluable contributions to the firm’s growth. Both have played key roles in driving deal execution, shaping investment strategies, and supporting portfolio companies, highlighting the emerging talent shaping the future of venture capital.

Duru specializes in pipeline development, diligence, deal sourcing, and thesis development, with a focus on workforce and lifelong learning. With prior experience at EY-Parthenon leading private equity due diligence, Duru brings deep expertise in education and consumer sectors to the team. She also has a robust network in the industry, serving as the New York Co-Lead of the Emerging Venture Capital Association (EVCA) and the founder of a pre-partner EdTech investors group. Duru serves as the board observer for Rethink Education portfolio companies Anthill, GetSetUp, Care Academy, and Vivvi, and has led deals into Magic School and other recent investments. Her recent honorable mention recognition on Alpha Partners’ 2024 Pre-Partner list, reflects her growing prominence in the industry.

“Bridget’s relentless approach to due diligence and learning ensures that we are prepared for every eventuality in the investment journey,” said Amy Nelson, Managing Partner of Rethink Education. “Her insights, networks, and judgment are invaluable in shaping the decisions we make every day.”

Malcolm-Hay focuses on deal sourcing, diligence, portfolio management, and fundraising support. An emerging AI connoisseur in the EdTech sector, Malcolm-Hay leverages her background — scaling PwC’s Future of Work and AI offerings globally, as an early employee at Future Fit AI, and as a Stanford MBA and MA in Education graduate — to evaluate opportunities and drive Rethink Education’s partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation on responsible AI in education. Through the “AI x Education Discussion Group Series,” she has brought together a diverse group of AI business leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, and policymakers to address pressing topics like the launch of Chat GPT EDU, AI transparency challenges, and enhancing AI literacy in schools. Malcolm-Hay has led recent investments and serves as a board observer for Rethink Education portfolio companies Brighthive, Major League Hacking, and Voxy. Recognized on the Venture Capital Journal Rising Stars list, Malcolm-Hay’s contributions continue to earn her recognition and establish her as a future leader in the field.

“Monique brings a wealth of experience in AI and venture that positions us for success in the current marketplace,” Nelson added. “Her forward-thinking contributions are helping shape the future of the EdTech sector.”

Both Duru and Malcolm-Hay’s dedication to mission-driven work and advocacy for the vulnerable have set them apart as exceptional leaders in the venture capital field. “Bridget and Monique are two of the sharpest investors I’ve had the privilege of working with in my career. It’s their dedication to the mission and their relentless advocacy that makes them truly exceptional,” said Nelson.

With their promotions, Duru and Malcolm-Hay continue to pave the way for Rethink Education’s future success, combining expertise, leadership, and passion to drive positive change in education.
